Koinonia, from the Greek word "Koinos", meaning community. ---- Thus, Koinonia de Letran can also be called as The Community of Letran.

Koinonia de Letran, the only religious organization in Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Letran-Calamba), was founded during the first year of the school's existence by Fr. Jessie James Lorete, O.P. on January 30, 1980.

With a new hope, he embarked in his mission to create an organization that would inculcate among its members the proper values of a true Christian, promote camaraderie among each other, and enlighten them about their roles/duties on their community and render service to it.

Through these objectives, supported by an axiom "We Love, We Share, We Care!", Koinonia de Letran soon grew and evolved into one of the school's most prestigious organization.

Carrying out its annual routine activity such as Catechisms, Recollections, Celebration of St. Dominic, Induction of Newly Elected Officers, Orientation & Screening of Applicants, Sports Fest, Visit of La Naval de Manila, Induction of New Members, Christmas Carols, Reach Out, Anniversary Celebration, Apostolate, and Tribute to Graduating Members, it didn't take long for it to achieve a title as one of the most active organization in the Letran.
